I know that you think I am fox obsessed. And you might be right. But I thought that I would post something a little bit different today.

More than Honey

This is a fascinating documentation about the bee die off. And while the film is from 2012 it still a gripping and informative look at the modern beekeeping practices that take place around the world. The way bees are kept here in the US, and our misconception about the “killer bee” was covered in great depth. While the film makers captured some simply amazing and captivating imagery of bees.

A co-worker of mine is a hobby bee keeper, and he produces some delicious honey that I get the privilege to enjoy. And he is also the one that suggested the documentary for family-movie night. Though for smaller children the overall message might be harder to conceptualize there are plenty of points in the film that even they will be able to understand the importance of bees in our world.

There were so many aspects of the bee that I was completely unaware of, should probably explore in a more in-depth manner. For example I did not know that the male bees are actually clones of the queen. And while that sounds incredible, the fact that she lays 2000 eggs a day – a replacement for the bees that die each day – her own body weight.

Here is another adorable video of a cute house fox. Hopefully it gets plenty of love and attention, but from the looks of this fuzzy little goof playing around that is a given.

A couple of cute and goofy fox cubs

It was once thought that the fox was a solitary animal that didn’t build family units like wolves do. This is of course not true. The fox will build large pack like structures when food is plentiful, but since the fox does not hunt like wolves (packs driving prey) they are not able to maintain the structure when food becomes rarer. These pictures of some young fox cubs playing with items they find in nature are good examples of the animals social character.

Fuller House Series Premiere Friday, February 26, Yay

I’ll have to admit that I am really looking forward to watching Fuller House later this month. I was a huge Full House fan growing up, and I should really validate that more and say that I was more a Candace Cameron fan (now Candace Cameron Bure). She was the real reason I sat diligently in front of the TV week after week watching her and her family’s lives unfold.

As you can imagine that is the real draw here again. And I am thrilled that Netflix thought that it was a good enough reason to bring the show back. Sort of. Here is what they have to say about Fuller House:

D.J. Tanner-Fuller is a widow and mother of three. Things become too much to handle, so she asks for help from her sister Stephanie and her best friend Kimmy

The show will premiere on Friday, February 26 with the episode: “Our Very First Show, Again”. And I will be happily sitting in front of my iPad.

Yay, it works. If you’re having problems getting your photos to look right on your website you need to set the format to “Image” this seems to work for me. It is a little button on the right of the page that you can click.
